Dreams and Plans

Money. Having it, not having it, it seems to be the source of stress in a lot of people's lives. To me, money seems like the only thing between me and my plans. To some, money is a burden. It eats you up and makes you compromise a lot. It is hard sometimes to maintain a healthy outlook on life when you are watching others live out your dreams. I know that I shouldn't ever determine my 'worth' by my bank account but it seems that money is the only keeping my dreams from becoming my plans.

I don't want you to misunderstand me, I do not want charity or pity, I just want to express the frustration I feel when I don't have the means to complete a project. My practical skills don't go very far beyond doing laundry and varnishing so being able to contribute financially makes me feel like I am helping. M has a lot on his shoulders and I hate sitting on the sidelines not being able to help. So for now, I will just have to be emotionally supportive until I can afford to be otherwise. Oh well. I hope by including posts like this that you readers out there will get a more well rounded perspective of how hard this whole process is.

For those of you who say, 'go now, do it while you are young! Don't wait until you have the money!' I want you to know that I am willing to eat rice, potatoes, and fish everyday if it comes to that. M and I are humble people and don't need much to be happy. However, I wouldn't feel comfortable crossing any oceans until our frames are fixed. (When I refer to money standing in the way, the fixing frames project is what I am referring to.)  If you want to know how much money we need, all I have to say is, 'how much do you have?' Figuring out how much it costs to refit a boat and go cruising is like asking someone how much it costs to live. Whether you live on a farm in the Midwest or on an island in the Med, the cost of life is very relative to how you live it. For now we are living it cash poor and love rich and I wouldn't ever want it the other way around. Anyway, it's not all candy and gumdrops... or cocktails and smooth sailing here in our lives and this is one of those times that is less than easy for us.

Hopefully some of you reading this can get some hope knowing that you are not alone in your struggle to reach your dreams. I'm not gonna give up that easy though. We shall find a way, we always do.
